Fulfilling children's potential

New Classrooms in use!

We are all delighted with our new extension and have many people to thank.  Firstly the Local Authority who funded the project through their replacement of mobile classrooms scheme, Mr Simmons, the Architect, whose design has complemented the original building and made good use of space, the Governors, especially Mrs Leighton, Chair of the Finance and Premises committee, for planning and overseeing the project, Steele Davis builders, who completed the project with the minimum disruption, to all, especially Mr Leighton and Mr Woodward, who helped with the move and to Mrs Male and Mrs Houghton for their efforts to keep our school clean throughout.

Attendance matters!

We are very grateful to the vast majority of our parents who continue to support our School Attendance Policy.  They ensure that their child attends school regularly, on time, and make appointments, holidays, etc out of school time.

Next LSA meeting: Monday 20 February - all welcome!

Road Safety

We are still very concerned at the number of adults who take a short cut across the school car park.  This is a very dangerous practice.  Please, please keep to the paths and teach your children to cross roads safely.  Remember cars cannot stop dead and small children cannot be seen by drivers reversing from a parking space.  Drivers please take care when manoeuvring at busy times or, better still, walk to school!

Congratulations

to Holly Milne and George Sadler who passed violin and Beth Emma and Abby Callan guitar exams;

to Thomas Marmoy, runner-up in the Tai Kwondo Inter County Championships;

to Evie Reynolds who represented Wiltshire Lawn Tennis Association at a recent tournament v Berkshire when the Wilts team won;

to Jessica and Heather Lloyd on recent swimming awards;

to all our dancers who performed in Let's Dance at Wroughton last weekend.

Non Uniform Day

n Friday 3 February our school supported UNICEF's Day for Change.  The children were offered the chance to wear non uniform in return for a donation (we suggested £1).  £220 was raised.  Thanks to everyone for their support.  The proceeds from the event will directly support UNICEF's work in Niger and Madagascar.

Maths Showcase

You are invited to school on Wednesday 1st March from   3.15pm - 4.30pm to see how we teach maths.  Our friendly Maths Advisor Mr Dale Burr will be explaining what's new and you will be able to see it in action in the classrooms. A free goody bag for all who attend!

Hip, hip, Horatio

We have been asked to take part in this joint schools' musical production with children in Y4-Y6 from Noremarsh Junior and St Bartholomew's Schools which will be performed at Noremarsh School Hall on 29th March. Each school has been allocated 30 places and we would like Longleaze to be well represented.  Currently, we have some spaces for singers.  Rehearsals are on Mondays after school at Longleaze.  If your child would like to appear in this topical show, please contact Mrs Bates or Mrs Milne.

Parent Helpers wanted please

We are indebted to those parents who already help in school, hearing children read, accompanying them to the swimming pool, covering books and making resources etc. We need some more helpers and have even produced a guidance booklet!  If you are able to help in any way, please, contact Mrs Glenton.

From time to time we are asked What is school policy on??..? Policies, procedures and guidelines for many aspects of school life have been drawn up.  These are kept on file and are available to view.

Sponsored event

Each year we run a sponsored event.  The reason is twofold.  Hopefully, the children will enjoy and benefit from the activity and the money raised will go towards much needed resources. Sponsor forms and details will go out before the holiday.
